Jun 11: Brazil (1985) dir. Terry Gilliam

Terry Gilliam's 'Brazil' has been influential in providing visual ideas that have been used in advertising and a whole host of other films since. It has a wide ranging cast, with great performances from Ian Holm and Jonathan Pryce in particular and dramatic visual setpieces and sound design. There are also some surprising cameos such as one from Robert de Niro.

The film isn't set in Brazil and this discussion includes several interesting contributions giving different perspectives.

It is a dystopian film with some dark moments, and shows a Kafka-esque level of bureaucracy at times.
I recommend diving into Brazil. There is an excellent BFI guide which explores the meanings of the different elements of the film.
