Sep 5: Teacher movies

Back to school for many this week.

There are plenty of movies made about teachers, usually completely unrealistic in terms of the relationships they have with students (and other teachers), the workload, the interactions in the classroom and almost everything else about actual teaching... as many people return to school this week or next - in English schools at least - here are a few suggestions.

There's Jack Black in 'School of Rock' as Dewey Finn.

Robin Williams as in 'Dead Poet's Society' - particularly cringeworthy from memory.

There's the History Boys (how did that creep in?)

Miss Trunchbull of course, Mr. Chips (Robert Donat version is excellent), and the teachers in Nativity.

Teachers also include those who teach adults, such as the drumming in Whiplash.

Some BFI suggestions here.

Here's the best... Mr. Sugden.

Who is your favourite teacher in a film?
