Films I watched today - this one...
The sequel to Finding Nemo.
There are messages about the damage caused to ocean ecosystems; I also like the little details as always with Pixar films.
Moana (2016) dir. Ron Clements and John Musker
The second in a double-bill I watched while in the post-Christmas slump - a wet day and nothing much on.
There has been much discussion related to cultural appropriation, although my sense is that a lot of effort was made to speak to numerous people to check imagery and other details. There are some good songs, with Lin Manuel Miranda being involved in the music.
Some of the secondary marketing and merchandising did not perhaps take the same care to be respectful of the source material and culture of Polynesian cultures and stories, according to this piece.
